Mustache and Eyebrows Application

One thing that I have learned throughout this class is to believe in myself a little more. I constantly ask Sue "does this look okay" "am I doing this right" I need to use better judgment and ask myself if I accept the work that I am doing. Ever since I was in school the teachers drilled into my brain if it's not all completely correct then it is not good. Sue has helped me realize that this is something I need to fix. Thanks Sue.

Now here are process shots from my Mustache appliance

I am not sure how to turn this picture around on here. This is the worksheet that was given to us to help us make our eyebrows and mustaches
When I received this template, I was thinking there is no way that I am going to be able to do this. How can I create hair using this.  I was doubting this procees a lot.

At the top of this picture you can see the netting that I was given to place the hair on to keep it all togetehr. I picked two different colors of hair and this picture is th4e porcess of me cutting the hair strips into 10 pieces. I did this with botg colors of hair.

This is the process of when I took the two different pieces and mixed the colors throughout each other. It was very frusterating to me and if I had to do it again I think i would go with the red hair that alomst everyone else chose. The white hair was very curly and it was not easy to seperate it. I made 10 little piles of the combinded hair.

Here is an up close picture before I twisted the hair together. As you can see the white hair looks really short because it is so curly.

I ned put a the template into a sheet cover. This allowed me to pull off the hair easily after I finished. Then I put a layer of latex in the outline of the eyebrows and mustache. I then put the netting over top and let it dry completely.

This is the first layer of hair dried down on the template. I did not like how it was looking and I asked Sue if I could do another layer. One thing I had to make sure that I didnt do was smash down the hair when I was putting latex and new hair on top. This was very difficult for me.

We had to leave this at our seats to dry until the next class and we were going to work with it more next class.

Now this is when we got to put the eyebrows and mustache on our face.

First I had to use a Q-tip and power to gently remove the appliance form the sheet over. This process was pretty easy and rather relaxing.
I got my appliances off without ripping them or them curlying over. This pictures shoes that I had to use spirit gum to attach this to my face. I have never used spirit gum before. I have wathed YouTube videos of other people doing it but I never bought it and tried it myself. The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was it had a very strong smell to it. I dont know why but I thought that it wouldnt have a smell. It didnt make me sick or anything but this was something that I observed.
We were doing old age before applying the aplliances on our faces. This was nothing new becuase we had previously just did old age. This is the same process of drawing th4e wrinkles on my face with a brown pencil.

As you can see here the lines have more dimension to them. That is becasue I added a highlight above the brown. I then blened both of the lines out with a small paint brush. This was the best way to do so that I figured out.

Here is an overall look at the eyebrows and mustache. It kind of looks like a sad face. I needed to style them more when they were actually placed of my face.

This looks so weird. I mean my eyebrows can get a little thick sometimes when I dont pluck them but this is to a whole new level. I cant get over how real it looks. I held down the eyebrows for about 40 seconds just to make sure that they were stuck and wouldnt fall off. I thought that they were going to feel really weird but they didnt. The long hairs ticked alittle bit though.

Here is the final picture with old age and the eyebrows and mustache applied. I LOVE IT! This project was so much fun although it did get a little time consuming when putting the hairs into the netting it was still really fun. The mustach iched so much when I put in on though. It was ticking the top of my lip so bad. I couldnt wait to get it off. As you can see here I styles my mustach when I got it put on. I used hair spray and my fingers to twirl the ends so they had a little curl to it.
